Interview and Senior Pictures

Hola again! I had a college interview over the phone this morning. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I was expecting some dean of the college to ask me a bazillion hard questions that would take hours. But it was only 15 minutes and one of the students did the interview. It is a way cool college-College of the Ozarks. You pay for tuition completely through work study, pell grants, and scholarships. The only thing you pay for is room and board which you can also do work study for or just pay for out of your pocket. I think I will definantly go there if I don't get scholarships from CSU-Pueblo.

Well, my Mom posted my senior pictures on her blog. You can look at them if you want. These pictures seem to make the end of highschool so official. It is pretty weird!

Well, adios!

Layout, New CD, Anthropology

Hola! Is my layout all wacked? Someone said it was, but I can't see it from here.

Did I tell y'all (deciding to be Texan for a day) that I finally bought Nickelcreek? Sweet stuff! But I won't elaborate, because I believe I have told you all about that loveliness.

Today in anthropology. Okay, I'm supposed to give this presentation with another girl. As I've said before, it's been...hard. She did not research, I wrote the whole paper, she kept flaking out when we were supposed to get together, etc. Anyway, we were supposed to give the presentation today. We ended up not doing it, because there wasn't time, but that is beside the point. The point is-well, two-fold. First, she was dressed up like she was going to some Arctic country, but in major fashion. She had a tiny green skirt on with a matching jacket that had fur on the edges. She had way long HIGH heel boots, long dangly earrings, and big poofy curly hair. I was just in jeans and a sweater. Interesting contrast. My other point is that she did our presentation board way weird. I let her finish it up, because she hadn't done anything else. I saw it for the first time today and it screams girly or something. I mean, come on! There is glitter on it! And it's pink and bubbly and-ah! I am going to be SO glad to get this over with!

I'm Back!

Hola to all! I am officially back. We decided to come back a day early, because snow was in the forecast and also Chuck wasn't feeling so great. By the way though, he did great driving. He was such a sweetie! :) A stinky one, but nevertheless...

Although I am slightly depressed at the thought of my Turkey Day vacation being over, I believe I am ready to get on with normal life-for three weeks at least. After which, the semester is over. Whoopee!

Arizona was pretty good. It was pretty bizarre that is was so hot. Here in Colorado, it is snowing, and there we went swimming. That was pretty funny. We didn't do a whole lot, so I have nothing really to report on. The highlight of my trip is so dorky that if you saw me now, I would probably be blushing. Anyway....we had been driving for 12 hours-way too long. I was going a little nuts and I was hyper. Surprised? Anyway, I had my seatbelt unbuckled. Emily was sitting across from me, and I was bugging her with it. I was pretending it was a little animal. Well, she slapped the poor little guy and I said jokingly, "Why would you do that? He has such a kind spirit". She said, "Now Danika, we don't unbuckle our seatbelts in the happy van". Believe me, it was NOT the happy van! :) So, there is my dorky story.

Arizona or Bust

Quick post. I am leaving tommorrow for Arizona. Thanksgiving vacation! Wish us luck, because we are taking Chuck too. :) We leave tommorrow and will be back on Sunday night. Just in time for the week to start. Darn! Anyway, I am not sure if I will have time to get on while I am there, so I wish everyone a great week and fabulous turkey eating. Oh, and if you have mashed potatoes and gravy, have fun with that too. Yummy!

By the way, does anyone have any information on MP3 players or iPods? I know nothing, but I am sort of interested in getting one.

Hey, I finally found a relatively funny joke.

Two zebras are talking and one asks the other, "Am I black with white stripes or white with black stripes?" The other replies, "Well I don't know. You should pray to God about that and ask him." So that night he did and God replied, "You are what you are." The next day he said to the other zebra, "I still don't understand what I am because God just said, You are what you are." The second zebra responds, "You must be white with black stripes or else God would have said, Yo is what yo is."

Watch this! It is quite random. The music reminds me of Zelda for some reason. And the spider part reminds me of...a friend. :)

I am so glad, because I have the whole week off from both work and school. Rock on! I feel phenomenally sorry for all you sad people that don't. Here is a moment of silence in mourning......okay. There you go. :) Have a great day!

I owe this great discovery to my sister. A whole site on stupid videos. Bwa ha ha! Numa Numa here I come! Some funny ones: #4"Evil Penguin Mom" OH MY GOSH!!!!!
#9"Glass Door Prank" How sad!
#6 "The Goal Post" Maybe I should send my video in. I know Bonnie saw it. And laughed. When I got hit in the head with a ball and fell flat on my face. You know, I should ask Emily how to do that...
#47-"Snowboarding Face Plant. This reminds me of another funny video. When I was younger, my Dad decided to board backwards, holding the video camera to tape me. Well, he ate it. The video is great, because he rolls all over the place. Ha ha! Man, I am really getting some ideas here!

Have a great weekend.

Brrrr!

I tried to post some awesome pictures I took of the moon last night, but Hello is whacked out right now, so I will have to wait until another day. I suppose it is the thought that counts....unless it is a picture.

Today, it is so cold!! Last night it was like 12 degrees, and this morning I dreaded going to work, because it was dark and freezing. Supposedly, it is supposed to snow a little bit tonight. The weird thing is that it is going to be around 54 tommorrow. Ha ha! Get the shorts back out!

I have to go have an advising appointment at school, because government run things are retarded. I tested into a Math 121 class. This semester I want to take a physics class (I'm not sure want is the right word...) and a prerequisite is Math 108. They can't sign me up, because I didn't take it. But I tested out of it. Therefore, the appointment to get a signature from a guy in the "math and sciences department". I had to leave work early for such nonsense. :)

Hola to all, and thanks for the comments. I was reassured that there were more than just girly-girls in this world. And thanks to the guys-wait guy-that commented. I hope I didn't scare everyone else away. :)

Right now, I am doing a lab-working on Punnett squares. I know it's odd, but I LOVE these things. I am extremely interested in genetics. In 9th grade, I had a little bit in biology on genetics. I was hooked on the Punnetts and pedigrees. I think I really like the organization and accurately predicting results. So, yeah, if you're ever bored, try it. Well, maybe I wouldn't go that far...

Today I went to work. It was a pretty long day. I got up at five, left the house at six, and got back about 4:30. It was a good one though. I got to eat M&Ms on the way home. Yummy! I guess I was pretty hungry.

Adios, and have a wonderful Wednesday!

By the way, what is everyone doing for Turkey Day?

New Template and Chicitas

I hope you can all see my new template. I still can't see all of it. It keeps reverting to the old one. But I'm used to that. Can you guys see the background and profile pic? Are the letters blue and red like they are supposed to be?

TBQELITE said the following about my comment on not understanding girls: "Hahaha... I think that's weird that you'd post that from your perspective. Which must mean something..." (You have officially been quoted.) :) Yes, I suppose it does mean something. I just don't get girls!

Okay, so, yeah, I'm a girl, but still... It is actually very frustrating. I am just fine with my hair in a ponytail, no makeup, jeans, and a t-shirt. People often tell me I should try some makeup and do my hair, but it just isn't my thing. It takes up too much time, and I figure if people don't like me without makeup and with my hair in a ponytail, too bad! Now this certainly makes for some difficulties. I don't get along with many girls, because all they want to do is talk about boys, makeup, and clothes. I don't. Because I don't, I have a hard time with the whole making friends with girls. I don't know. I suppose I am just very confused. I want to do "non-girly" stuff like paintballing, backpacking, and all that. But it makes it so I don't have many friends. Plus, even though I am certain it sounds quite ridiculous, I often thinks these things are things guys don't really like. They must like pretty girls that like girly things and all that....? It is kinda sad.

But I suppose I just need to try and focus on being myself. I guess...

Puzzle and Veterinarian

I just finished this yesterday! I don't know how well you can see it, but it is a 1,000 piece puzzle. It is actually pretty cool, because it is also a maze-an escape from prison. :) I started to love puzzle as soon as I finally finished my first. It was a 550 piece Wizard of Oz one. I had never finished one before, so there was never really any motivation to start another. I told my Dad it is like an addiction. As soon as I finish one, I am TOTALLY hyped up to start another. There is a wicked cool puzzle store in a town about forty-five minutes from Canon City, and I am hoping to get there pretty soon. Until then, maybe I will redo one that I already have....

Rabenstrange asks a question: " I assume you're on the semester system? I am so glad Washington is mostly on the quarter system.

What were your criteria for college selection?

I've never understood why smart people become veterenarians (I'm not saying they aren't smart, I know they are.). If you're going to go to school for that long, why not become a doctor for people? You'll be healing hurting humans, a far nobler calling (in my opinion) than helping non-sentient animals. Additionally, you'll be making several times as much money. Maybe you can explain. You seem to be pretty sure of your major and you're pretty smart."

I have considered the same thing. Eight+ years of school to just be a veterinarian and not be paid...anything? Why not be a "people doctor"? I think there are a few reasons. One of the biggest is it has just been something I have wanted to do for a really long time. When I was seven or eight, I used to check a book called "A Day in the Life of a Veterinarian" out literally every single time I went to the library. Before I knew about the amount of schooling and pay, I knew that was what I wanted to do. So, when it comes to all the logistics, it is harder, but that makes it even more worth it.
The second reason is because I don't like people. :) People are very rude, self-centered, deceptive, and greedy. I have never met an animal that is any one of these things. They might be rude, but that is because their owners are rude. An animal rarely gets mad when you have to give them shots or something in order to heal them. When you don't want to talk, it's okay-because they obviously don't talk. Sometimes it even seems like they understand you without talking. No matter what you do to an animal-mostly dogs-it seems like they are still your friend. So, those are my reasons-regardless of how illogical they may be. Thanks, Rabenstrange!

Fudge

This has nothing to do with fudge. I was just trying to find a semi-interesting title. :)

Some people were asking, so I thought I would expound a little bit. I applied to Becker College, College of the Ozarks, Colorado State University-Pueblo, Colorado State University-Fort Collins, Pennsylvania State University, and Coe College. I was accepted to CSU-Pueblo (which is where I will go most likely) and Coe College. I got the scholarship from Coe College. I actually just sent in the application to Penn State today. I was talking to my Grandpa and he said one of the campuses is only like 5 minutes from where they live, and I could live in his basement if I wanted. So, I decided "what the heck", and applied there too. Oh, and my major is pre-veterinary medicine. Phew, that was long. :)

Well, spring class registration at the college has started. Already??!! Wow! I am thinking I may have to take some classes at PCC in Pueblo which is half an hour away. The schedule in Canon City is pretty limited. :) They aren't offering any chemistry at all, and a lot of the classes are at night which I refuse to do!

Well, have a great Tuesday. I have lots of homework this week-two tests, some papers, a presentation, etc, so I am off to try and make a dent in it.

GREAT News and A Quiz...

...among other things.

First, a quiz. I wanted to find out what Peanuts character I was. I got the results-Pig Pen. Ha ha! I really am a clean person-I promise. The only thing I don't like is one of the words in the description. Just ignore it, okay? :)

Pig Pen
You are Pig Pen!

Which Peanuts Character are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

I went to see "Chicken Little" with a friend and my family last night. If you have read reviews that say it is dumb, don't listen! It is one of the funniest movies I have seen. I laughed so many times. The characters rocked. I love it when the "underdogs" do something cool. I wish I had an ugly duckling, a runt pig, a fish out of water, and a tiny chicken as friends. :)

Okay, now for the GREAT news. Yesterday, I got back from work-yeah, I worked on a Saturday. There was a bunch of stuff from colleges-as usual a bunch of junk mail. But not this time. I opened up one of the letters and it said that I had gotten a $15,000 yearly scholarship to a college I had applied to. I was in the bathroom-yeah, in the bathroom opening mail. I totally ran out and yelled through the house to see where my Dad was. (My Mom was not home.) I practically yelled at him to read the letter. And when my Mom got home, I shoved it in her face also. I was SO excited. To make it even better, I got accepted to two of the colleges I applied to also. It happened so fast-only a week ago I sent applications out. So, now I am waiting on decisions from a few more. To make the day the best, I got into the car-very happy needless to say-to go somewhere. I turn on the radio and one of my favorite songs was on-"Better Now". :) It was great!

Have a superbular Monday!

Cooking...

Ah! I had the weirdest experience of my entire short life. Well, it seems long to me, but when I consider my parents....just kidding! Seriously, Mom I am kidding. :) Anyway, to start out, I ended up going to this Taste of Home cooking school thing. And before you start cracking up, let me explain. My friend's Mom called and asked my Mom if she wanted to go. Her daughter was going too (which I later found out, she didn't know she was going. Oops.) Anyway, I thought I would go to hang out with my Mom and friend. So, I did. I think we were the youngest ones there. I felt very out of place with my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles jacket and bright green Vans. Well, my friend and I had fun just joking around and all that good stuff. We got shushed a few times. Ooops. The best part though was when we went to ice cream afterwards. I'd go through ten cooking schools just to have ice cream. :) Have a great weekend!

Short Stuff

Someone mentioned that my blog is wacko. They said the posts are way down the page. Does anyone else see that? Let me know! Thanks!

I can't write a good entry today, because I have to do a biology test before I leave for school. Wish me luck! :)

If you guys could pray for a friend of mine, I would really appreciate it. She is in a bad family situation and a bad relationship situation. I want to help her and be there for her, but things are so messed up, I don't even know how to help her. Thanks!

First Day of November

Hi! Happy first day of November! My sister mentioned my dog. I took him to the vet again and we are giving him some more medication. Once again, I am really thankful that we still have him!

Anyway, I went to that concert last night. But Spoken wasn't there. Ugh! They broke down in Albequerque. So? I still think they should have come....Okay, so I understand. Life happens. :) The bands were okay, although the sound system sucked. But the positive thing is I got to hang out with a few friends.

So, did anyone get any candy? Would you like to donate any to me? :) I didn't get any and I am so sad. I am considering going to Wally World and seeing if they have any on clearance yet.

Have a great day!
