Happy Halloween

Happy day! For me, it is just another day-school, homework, vet's office, chores, but for some of you, it may be a day off school. All the high-schoolers around here get a day off. No fair!!! Anyway, I am going to a concert tonight-Spoken. I have never heard them before, but lots of people tell me they're really good. So, I guess it should be fun. Plus, we get free candy. Bwa ha ha!

I had a good weekend-much too short, but good. I had a soccer game in Glenwood Springs which is about four hours away. We didn't win, but we played hard, and I really enjoyed it. It stunk though, because the team played fairly dirty quite a few times, and one girl from my team ended up fracturing her arm. So, if you guys could pray for her, that would be great! Also, I am really thankful that we got home safely. We had to go over a few snowy passes and one was pretty icy. We were blessed with a snow plow. We drove right behind him. :) Have a great Monday!

Strength Team

Hola to all peoples that read this!! Okay, that was my burst of enthusiasm for the day. :)

I just got back from Alma-about two hours away. I was grouting. It seems like I say that a lot....Anyway, it is really pretty there! I decided I want to take my picture tommorrow-except that means I have to go buy film. Darn! Anyway, I have a new resolution-to take my camera wherever I go. I always see things that would make great pictures, but I don't have my camera with me.

Last night, my family went to see the Strength Team

I don't know if anyone has heard of them, but they are big-really big...huge guys that break things and bend things and lift things. And they are all Christians. They tell people about Jesus along with doing all their stuff. It was pretty entertaining. They bend a frying pan like a burrito, tore phone books, sandwiched themselves between nails with someone bench pressing on top of them, and stuff like that. I do have to say that it seemed like a total guy thing though. My Dad actually came home and bent a frying pan. Okay, so it wasn't rolled like a burrito, but he dented it. :) Brother...

More s

Here is more coolio sky info. On Saturday night, Mars will be the closest it will ever be in 13 years. So, I think you should go look at it. :)

Reminder: (I feel like a teacher reminding people about a test or something.) Please vote at King's Highway for blog of the year award!

Also, I finished "The Great Gatsby", but I am not sure what to read next. I am pretty busy with homework, so I really haven't been able to start something else. I am thinking I would like to do some reading about Anastasia and her family! Anyway, "Great Gatsby" was pretty good. I am not really into all the stuff about "society" which is a lot of this book, but still it was slightly enjoyable. The "narrator" of the book was a guy that didn't like the dude he was writing about-Gatsby. I find it unbelievable that someone would write a book about someone they didn't like... I certainly wouldn't. :)

Stars and College Applications

On Wednesday morning, depending on your latitudinal location, you can see Saturn to the right of the moon. So, if anyone is interested in astronomy type stuff, check it out! Here is a great website that gives a list of what is going on for the week. Just change your location, and you can figure out exactly what will be in the sky. I love watching for meteor showers or eclipses. It's so fun! Does anyone like to find constellations? I have an awesome chart that helps identify all the ones in the sky.

Well, today, I am working on homework just about all day. My geography teacher sprung a test on us, so I really have to study. And then I have biology homework to do.

As of this afternoon, all my college applications will be in the mail. Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!! AWESOMELY AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you tell I am excited? :) I finally finished. I never realized how time consuming it was. Anway, now I am ready to start scholarship applications. I've already gotten one done. I figure I will make a goal of doing one each week. If I do it that way, it won't be so stressful.

Oh, and please remember to vote here!!! There are only a few more days you can do this.
Well, have a great Tuesday!

Vote!

Sorry I haven't blogged. My internet has been down since Thursday. Anway, go to King's Highway
and vote for the blog of the year. He has the rules and everything you need to know listed.

Soccer this weekend was great. First, I didn't get hit in the head. :) Second, I FINALLY figured out how to lob the ball to the other side of the field. Third, we were very close to tying the game. Three minutes before the game ended we were losing 3-2. We had gotten both goals in the last five minutes, so we were really wanting a third to tie us. We didn't, but it was one of the funnest games we have played!

Here is a fun Halloween game you can play! :) Go Charlotte!

Grrrr....

Please accept my apologies in advance. I have had an interesting day, not bad, just interesting, and I have to rant. So, if you want to skip this, go ahead. And, hey, if you want to rant, comment away.
Rant #1: Group projects-AH!! First, in anthropology a girl and I have a big huge research project. I have done it all so far-the research and the paper writing. Today we had a stupido group test. We had to answer an essay question together. Pardon my rudeness, but she can't even spell or capitalize correctly. I am SO angry! Why should my grade be affected by someone who doesn't even care. She herself said we can-pardon the language-"BS our way through the project". No thank you! I for one want an A.
Rant #2:People!!!!!!! I am so irritated. You know how when people used to be your friend and then they find someone they like better-as in is cooler, whatever-they stop hanging out with you. Well, the two parties involved are very close to me. Very. And now they hang out all the time. Augh! I am so angry! That sounds very preschoolish, doesn't it?

Okay, that was nice. On to more positive things. I am SO close to getting my college applications done! I am hoping to get them out by the 31st. That will be a huge load off my back. Then I have to go on to scholarship applications. Oh, joy!

News of the day: I got a shot. :( Actually, it wasn't as bad as I expected. I was like a little kid-all nervous, worried it would hurt. But it didn't. Hooray!

Today in geography, we were talking about Anastasia and Czar Nicholas. That was WAY interesting. I think I want to do some research on it. If I can find any time that is. :)

Well, I will stop inundating everyone with needless tidbits of wackiness. So, I'll sign out.

Muchas Gracias!

Thanks to the assistant dictator, I got the answers to my questions. NATO he knew. The answer to the second was Northern Europe which I found after scouring my textbook and the internet.

Anyway, my friend Sarah introduced me to some wicked cool music. Okay, so maybe it isn't wicked cool, but I love it. I always watch movies like "Leprachauns" and wished I had a CD with all the Irish sounding music. Here it is: Nickel Creek. Oh, and here is one I am listening to right now: Flyleaf. Okay, last link. My current favorite song: "Better Now" by Collective Soul. :) Adios! Have a great Wednesday! I have classes, a doctor's appointment, and joyous homework. I'm just trying to stay positive. :) No, actually, it isn't that bad.

Help!

I am trying to study for a test in geography. I have two questions on the review that I CANNOT figure out. I don't suppose anyone knows anything about geography.....Here are the questions. If you can, help would be mucho appreciato!
1. What is the name of the military organization formed to counterbalance to Soviet Union and its Eastern European allies?
2. The tellecommunications industry has thrived in which region of Europe?

Thanks a ton!

"Ben-Hur"

Hooray! I finally finished. I stayed up late last night to do it. I could hardly put the book down! So, yes, I would definantly reccommend it. Here are some cool quotes from the book.

"Ben-Hur found a certain charm in Iras' prescence. If she looked down upon him from her high place, he made haste to get near her; if she spoke to him, his heart beat out of its usual time. The desire to be agreeable with her was a constant impulse. Objects on the way, though ever so common, became interesting the moment she called attention to them, a black swallow in the air pursued by her pointing finger went off in a a halo; in a bit of quartz or a flake of mica was seen to sparkle in the drab sand under kissing of the sun; at a word he turned aside and brought it to her; and if she threw it away in disappointment, far from thinking of the trouble he had been put to, he was sorry it proved so worhtless, and kept a lookout for something better-a ruby, perchance a diamond. So the purple of the far mountains became intensenly deep and rich if she distinguished it with an exclamation of praise, and when, now then the the curtain of the howdah fell down, it seemed a sudden dullness had dropped from the sky bedraggling all the landscape...For that there is no logic in love, nor the least mathematical element, it is simply natural that she shall fahison the result who has the wielding of the influence."

"Men speak of dreaming as if it were a phenomenon of night and sleep. They should know better. All results acheived by us are self-promised, and all self-promises are made in dreams awake. Dreaming is the relief of labor, not for itself, but for the opportunity it furnishes or dreaming, which is the great under-monotone of real life, unheard, unnoticed, because of its constancy. Living is dreaming. Only in the grave are there no dreams."

"Youth is but the painted shell within which, continually growing, lives that wondrous thing the spirit of a man, biding its moment of apparition, earlier in some than in others. She trembled under the percept that this might be the supreme moment come to him; that as children at birth reach out their untied hands grasping for shadows, and crying the while, so his spirit might, in temporary blindness, be struggling to take hold its impalpable future. They to whom a boy comes asking, 'Who am I, and who am I to be?' have need of ever so much care. Each word in answer may prove to the afterlife what each finger touch of the artist is to the clay he is modelling. "

"There is no law by which to determine the superiority of nations; hence the verity of the claim, and the idleness of the disputes about it. A people rise run their race, and die either of themselves or at the hands of another, who, succeeding their power, take possession of their place, and upon their monuments write new names. Such is history. If I were called upon to symbolize God and man in the simplest form, I would draw a straight line and a circle, and of the line I would say, 'This is God, for he alone moves forever straight forward!; and of the circle, 'This is man-such is his progress.' I do not mean there is no difference between the careers of nations; no two are alike. The difference, however, is not, as some say, in the extent of the circle they describe or the space of the earth they cover, but in the sphere of their movement, the highest being near God...A great man, O my boy, is one whose life proves him to have been recognized, if not called, by God."

I love words! I admire people who can put their words together to express their thoughts-thoughts most can't even begin to explain.

By the way, we lost our soccer game again. *sigh*. But it was fun even though the coach TOTALLY yelled at me. That was scary! Anyway, I can't believe it, but I got hit in the head with a ball again. Just like last time. Ridiculous, huh? I also did something to my wrist. A girl and I collided. I think I did some sort of backflip. :) So, luckily, I had this post written out already or it would have taken days. Adois and happy monday!

"Wallace and Gromit"

I saw this movie last Sunday. I just didn't get to blog about it, because I had a lot going. Anyway, it was called "Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit". I used to watch the little half hour movies they had when I was ten or something, so I was really excited about seeing this one. It cracked me up! They just had these little spots of humor that were...well, hilarious. And the claymation or whatever you call it is a fun change from the same old-same old. Plus, it was a very original story line.

Therefore, I would reccommend it for anyone who wants to see a fun movie that will make you laugh. I would think it would be funner to go to if you brought a younger brother or sister....I think I was one of the oldest ones in the theatre. :)

Funny Laws

I got some funny pieces of random information in my sociology class.

Strange Laws in Colorado
State Laws
-One may not mutilate a rock in a state park.

City Laws
Aspen
-Catapults may not be fired at buildings.
Sterling
-Cats may not run loose without having been fit with a taillight (Yeah, right!).
Pueblo
-It is illegal to let a dandelion grow within the city limits (*cracks up laughing*).
Denver
-It is unlawful to lend your vacuum cleaner to your next-door neighbor (I guess Denver wants to foster un-neighborly neighbors.).

Results

Well, I took Chuck in today and the vet called me back with the results. He is positive for cancer, and it advanced just from Friday. The one thing we can do for him is give him steroids, and that will make it so he is around for another month or two which is definantly a blessing!

My Dog

Life just really sucks sometimes! I found out on Friday that my dog probably has cancer. He has been getting quite a bit sicker over this weekend. I don't know how much longer he will be around, and it's pretty hard. So, even though it sounds silly maybe you guys could pray that he won't be in pain at all. I will find out this afternoon what we have to do with him. Thanks.

I Was Tagged. Again.

So, here I go. These are the directions.

1. Go to your archive.
2. Find your 23rd post.
3. Find the fifth sentence (or closest)
4. Post the text of the sentence with these instructions.
5. Tag 5 people.

The sentence is "Well, I took the picture". Hmm, that is a lot more boring than I thought it would be. I thought it would be more random. Anyway, I curse *ahem* tag.

1. Cheekymama
2. Josh
3. Sarah
4. Rabenstrange (Hah! The right name.)
5. TBQelite

Okay, this could be interesting. Or not. I have been contemplating this for a while. It has to do with piercings (besides just regular ear lobe). Uh-oh! :) I am curious what younger guys think about piercings-like if they think they are inappropriate, unattractive, whatever. My Dad thinks that piercings make a girl, for lack of a better way to say it, look not as "wholesome/innocent", whatever. What I am wondering is if that is a generation/age thing or if most guys think this way. Tell me what you think-girls talk too! And please don't worry about hurting feelings-I have my cartilage pierced in three places, and I know some people don't agree with that. This could be interesting...:)

I find these results highly interesting. Hmmm. Wouldn't have guessed. But, hey, politics isn't my big thing.

The Shortest Best Friend

I liked Rabenstranger's idea of posting about his family. I'll start with the youngest in the family-Aubry. She's the shortest best friend I've got. :) Even though she is only three, we "hang out" a lot. Taking into consideration my weakness for sugar, the next sentence will be understandable. Two of our favorite things to do are go get ice cream and go to Wal-Mart where we get some candy or gum to share. Admittedly, she isn't the only one who enjoys this stuff.

Anyway, Aubry is definantly a....girly-girl. The exact opposite of me. To the chagrin of my Mom, I try as hard as I can to brainwash her into thinking pink is evil and purses, barrettes, and dresses are the work of the devil. Okay, so I'm not that drastic, but I am definantly trying to steer her to a place where she will one day like some other more interesting-in my opinion-stuff.

Oh, it was hilarious what she said the other day. I asked her what she would think if I someday had a kid. She said, "You already have a kid". I asked her who, and she said, "me". Ha ha! That was cute!

This Weekend

Well, I promised details of the game, so I can't break a promise. Hmm, I'll try to be frank. A LOT of the girls decided that homecoming was more important than a soccer game which I personally do not have the capactity to understand. Therefore, we only had seven players. None of which are goalies. So, at practice on Friday night, we decided on who would be the goalie. For never having done it before, she rocked. But needless to say, we totally lost. 7-1. Ouch! That can definantly hurt a person's pride! Anyway, it was a really hard game. I have never been so tired. A few times I experienced what it must be like to have athsma. I couldn't catch my breath. It was so weird. Anyway, that is about it. Not too eventful. It was fun though, because I got pretty close to the goal since there was so few people. What an experience.

Well, that's about the extent of my "brief summary". Hope you all had a great weekend!
