The python

One exam down!! I took my vert phys test this morning. It was long, and I got done just in time. Luckily, she made part of it a take home which I nearly have finished. A theory on why the phython gut expands so much after eating. I decided it was because the organs basically atrophy during long periods of fast. The increase in weight after eating should be due to enlarged organs and more digestive secretions.
I think the test went rather well. Now I am on to getting forty-seven lab reports done today and tommorrow. After that, I study my butt off. :)
Yesterday was great. I decided it was because I was amused by EVERTHING. He he...Even my chem prof noticed that I kept laughing at things. Well, I came home with a huge smile on my face. Just because. No particular reason. :)

Alarm Clock

My alarm was set for 6:00. It went off and I reset it for 6:20, because I did NOT want to get up in the dark and cold.... :) I love the colder weather though.

Classes are crazy now. If I am gone for a week or two, it is because of the profusion of tests and lab reports I have. I truly do not know how I will get it all done... :)

Genius!

So, this is a genius idea. Pandora music...I listen to it the whole time I study. You put in songs/artists you like and they come up with similar and play it constantly like a radio station with no commercials. And it's free!!!
Listening to "Something More" by Sugarland
Just listened "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack and "Long Trip Alone" by Dierks Bentley
Good songs!!! :)
Hope your weekend is great!

School. Again.

So my study partner for chemistry thinks I am going to be a millionaire very soon. First I draw out a hydrocarbon that the chem professor has never seen before. I am considering patenting it before someone else does... Then my o. chem lab teacher-after doing my recrystallization-says I have wonderful crystals. Ha! That is really funny.... :) So, if I soon disappear, just read the chemistry science magazines, and you'll see me. Doubt it, but it was funny.

I have a vertebrate physiology test on Monday. Not too excited about it. The class is very interesting, but I am struggling to remember all the mechanisms. It is amazing how complicated it can be to learn and understand the mechanisms behind a "simplified" version of glycolysis.

I realize all I talk about is school. It is all I do though. :) I am either at school, doing homework, or working on getting all my ducks in a row for veterinary school. I am taking a break tonight however. My Mom and I are hanging out. Maybe a movie or something... Woo hoo!

Vet School

I started volunteering at the vet clinic every week again. One of the vets that works there once a week told me about a great program at CSU-FC. I have decided to use this as my backup plan in case I don't get in on the first try to vet school. There is an anatomy and physiology master's program up there. If I got through that, and then went on to vet school, I would be way ahead of the game as far as animal anatomy and physiology is concerned. Speaking of vet schools, I put in my applications next summer/fall. I can hardly believe that it has already come up. I am so excited. I am looking into schools now and have narrowed it down to six. In addition to that, there will be the master's program at CSU-FC. Woo hoo!

Hmmm...

One of those weeks. So swamped I don't write full sentences. I have a few lab reports due, a test to study for, and reading to catch up on in basically all my classes. I know what I will be doing this weekend.... :)
However, I successfully finished my chem test. Well, we'll see how successful it was on Friday. :)
Have a great Thursday.

Hydrocarbons

I woke up in time this morning. Woohoo! And I am wearing overalls and a sweatshirt for the first time in about 4 or 5 months.

I shouldn't be blogging. I have a chemistry test tommorrow. My genius plan was to finish all my chemistry homework this weekend. I did. About five hours later, I threw my pencil and paper in the air, and left all thought of hydrocarbons on the carpet. Okay, so it wasn't that drastic. Anyway, my plan was to study this week. Well, I walked into O Chem yesterday and we got another huge set of homework. *sad face* We'll see where the whole test studying part actually comes in. I have less than 24 hours. This should be interesting....:) I am not as stressed as I would have been last year though. Interesting.

Observation: Chemistry is only a minor and it takes up more time than my biology classes combined. I've observed this every semester, so I'm claiming it as a fact. :)

The Big Oops

So, my running worry since I started going to "public school" is that my alarm won't go off and I will sleep through a class. I almost did this morning. Usually I leave about 6:50 to get to my 8 o'clock class. This morning I was happily snoozing when my roomie comes in and says-"Danika, do you know it is five until seven". I have never jumped out of bed quicker in my life. Oh, great, I'm going to be late! In order to get to pick up my carpooling friend and still get to school in time, I got ready in record time. Of course yesterday was the one day of my life I chose not to take a shower. I had to take one this morning or I would have stunk all day. I literally took a 2 minute shower. I was out of the house by 7:02. I got ready and out to the car in seven minutes! I can still feel it. I believe I won't fully wake up today....That really made for an interesting morning. It was a good thing I packed a lunch last night and set my backpack and library of textbooks by the door, ready to go. :) Another Monday morning in which I almost bombed, but got through it. Woo hoo!

Scavenger Hunt

As I finally feel summer end with the temperatures and light changing, I see the end of the lap. The race isn't over, but this part of it is. I realize even more now that when I stick to what I know is right, it will turn out. Regardless of how long it takes, God will get me through it. Once it finally sinks in how I should truly be thinking, it changes. All it took was a mindset change. I'm not saying problems won't come up again, but with this experience and changes I have made, I think they will be fewer and less intense.
Yesterday, we celebrated my roomie's birthday. She said she wanted a surprise, so I planned a picture scavenger hunt. We split into two teams, and each one had to get thirteen pictures of something in particular. Each one they got was worth one point. Some examples of these pictures were everyone on the team in a Volkswagen bug, mimicking a statue, a picture of someone eating a Cheeseburger, and a member of the team wearing a fast food uniform. There were also five things to get pictures of that would be rated based on the creativity. One picture was a public work of art. The other team won when the two male members wrote public work of art in sharpie on their stomachs and took pictures of the "manly sixpack". He he...That was amusing. I will not be posting that one on the internet however. If you want to see the other, go to my myspace: www.myspace.com/twinkiesaregross

Uh oh

Sitting in the library at school, eating grapes. Mmmm, yummmy. I decided to take a break on nomenclature of organic compounds. Considering I do not have 3x5 cards with me to put all the things I need to memorize on, I figured I would move on. To blogging. :)

So I am quite worried. A fellow student has shown some interest. In dating. I am not interested, and I see the person nearly every day. How to let this one slide under the rug without hurting any feelings? I don't want to hurt any feelings. How quickly things go from an e-mail concerning academic questions to wanting to date. Uh oh...I woke up worried about the day, wondering what I should do. Working on my excuse list: I have decided not to date while in college (Can't, cause it's not true.)
I'm already taken (Not officially true, but I believe the person asking is not the one I will be taken by)
I have to do my hair Friday night (Hehe, not gonna work)
I'm busy Friday night (I could invent something)
My Dad has a huge gun collection (He needs to start one still I guess)

My Random Observations/Happenings

There is something about Tuesdays. Something not right. Something in the air. I forgot my lunch again. Just like last Tuesday.

I have a small organic chemistry assignment. Five problems. Yet, I've dedicated about an hour or so to it and have only figure out one. Thank God for problem solving sessions and office hours.

We have an SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) at school that I want to use. I talked to my O. Chem lab prof and he mentioned the possibility of summer research. Hmmm...

I am going to be the new representative for the Medical Science club. Woopdeedoo!

Runners are crazy. We purposely punish ourselves yet enjoy it. Why?

A research lab filled with rats is an interesting place for a guy to show an interest. He he...Bravo for bravery however.

I just realized 90% of my "random" notes were about school. Hmm, guess I am a little preoccupied.

Woopdeedoo!

Woo hoo! I LOVE IT!!! Okay, so it made me laugh. Thanks to mi madre, this was discovered.
Look here for funniness.

So, I am at school right now. One of the few on the planet. For some odd reason CSU-P holds classes on Labor Day. Well, unlike other schools, I get a full week off for Thanksgiving, so I guess I am totally okay with that. I'd rather have a full week off when my ulcers start forming in a few weeks than right now when I have very little homework on weekends.
